Snow Bunny: a girl that goes to the mountains to wear cute ski/snowboard clothes to drink hot chocolate and hit on the hot ski lift boys. usually not very good at skiing/snowboarding.

– Urban Dictionary

Well, if that definition doesn’t sum me up in terms of my skiing experience, I don’t know what will!

I usually hate Urban Dictionary but, minus the part about hitting on ski lift boys, this definition is an example of me on the slopes of Vermont.

Oh & if you were wondering, the only boy I hit on during my skiing experience is Mr. Matt or the guy running the magic carpet, obviously (kidding, kidding).

Okay to be honest, I think I waited too long to learn to ski. I started lessons when I was in fifth grade, so I was about ten years old, and I was the definition of an epic fail.

My parents, I think, prefer that I don’t ski after all the ski drama I’ve been through…Okay buckle up your ski boots because this is a good story.

My ski fails have been hilarious, embarassing, painful and plenty.

I’ll start with what I think is the worst one, getting hit and thrown off the ski lift platform, by a ski lift. YUP you read that right!

When I was ten and skiing with my brother, we always rode the ski lift together. You know how you wait and then shimmy up and stick your butt out to get scooped up by the ski lift?

Well in the middle of me shimming up to get on the next lift, my brother decided we should wait for the next one…so as I shimmied my little bundle of a body back to the start line, a chairlift rounded the bend at a high speed and literally hit me.

I went flying off the ski lift platform. Just imagine it in slow motion with skies, poles & goggles flying everywhere…soooooo embarassing.

I really wish you could have been there. because you probably would have peed your pants.

Not only did I get flung off the platform, like a sack of potatoes, but I lost a earring in the process, which for me was the deal breaker. Forget the bruises, the fact that I lost my favorite pair of Pandora earrings at the age of 10 was a meltdown moment.

Okay so fast forward to the next year! I’m obviously so over skiing after I got clobbered by the chairlift, that I decide to take up snowboarding (HAHAHA).

My dad, still to this day, was like WHAT WHERE YOU THINKING, and I’ll tell you exactly what I told him. Two Words.

KIM POSSIBLE.

Yes, like many teeny-bops I was a big Kim Possible fan, and she was known for tearing up the slopes via snowboard, so I figured why not give it a try.

WRONG!

Oh guys, I don’t even know where to start with this story. So you know how when you are snowboarding, you have to unbuckle one foot from your snowboard before getting on & off the lift?

So I was almost to the end of the ski lift when I realized I forgot to unbuckle my foot, before getting on the lift, so I bend down to re-buckle my boot and I fell off the chair lift.

Now don’t be too alarmed, it wasn’t that high probably like 7ish feet but not only was it embarrassing  that I fell off, I also proceeded to slide halfway down the mountain.

Even worse I fell in the middle of my snowboarding group’s lesson,  given by  obviously a very intense snowboarder who I basically gave a heart attack.

I had some serious bumps after that fall, but once again they had to stop the whole chairlift route and bring out the medic team to make sure I was okay.

& so that basically sums up why I don’t ski or snowboard anymore. However that doesn’t stop me from going to Vermont and watching the rest of my family tear up the slopes!!! I”ll even hold their skies and test out the bunny slope, magic carpet only, no chairlift allowed.

Anyone have any ski stories, you HAVE to share? Let me know below xx Aubrey!
