Tis’ the season for giving! 🎁🧸 Dunkin’ isn’t just serving our favorite hot & iced drinks this holiday, they’re also helping us serve our local community. The first 50 people who bring a new unwrapped toy to a Toy Drop Box for Connecticut Children's from Dec. 6 through Dec. 14 will receive a $5 Dunkin' Gift Card! ☕️🍩

At Connecticut Children’s, the Child Life team uses toys to support the healing process. The hospital’s current toy closet is close to empty. So, if you’re able to donate this holiday season - your participation is greatly appreciated!🚂🎁 Toys that are in high-demand at the hospital include: fleece blankets, stuffed animals, card games, Playdoh, Barbies, toys for infant-ages, Legos, animal/character figurines, coloring books, Matchbox Cars, & infant sleeping sacks!🎄🧸

Last year my holiday season was filled with so much stress, unknowns and sadness for me 😬✌🏻. A combination of managing a small business like Mr. Trophy, which was HIGHLY effect by lockdowns / suspended sporting events at the end of 2020, to not being able to gather with family.

Looking back on last year reminds me how EXTRA GRATEFUL I am of this year’s holiday season and how much more I feel at PEACE this year then last 🎄🎅🏼.

With that being said, anyone that is stressed at this time or not feeling up to festivities- I SEE YOU ♥️ and I get it. Sending all my love and positive energy to those who are ‘ALL SET’ with 2021 and trusting you can see how quickly things can change - like the weather here in New England❄️☃️ I hear we’ll see snow this week! #entrepreneur #newengland #snow #positivevibes

⛸ 🛷 Dating back to the 17th century, New England homes were typically two stories tall with steeply pitched roofs - essential for shedding the heavy snow loads. The colonists stopped using their traditional woven lattice of wooden strips covered with a material made with some combination of wet soil, clay, sand, or straw (also known as European wattle and daub) to construct wood-frame homes covered with weatherboard, clapboard, or shingles. They were able to do so because of the ample availability of local timber! Central chimneys were also standard - since they're the most efficient way to heat homes during cold New England winters. ☃️❄️

🎁🎄☃️One historical home of New England is the Georgian house. In roof form, chimney placement, and cladding, this home is much like the Colonial. However, they are bigger. They're two stories high, two rooms deep, and the roofs are only moderately pitched. Many are unpainted and often shingled. ❄️⛸ 🛷 Georgian houses are best identified by the orderly plan of their windows and doors. The windows across the second story are even-spaced and almost always in odd numbers of three, five, or seven across. The lower-story windows appear directly below the uppers with the doorway in the center. Georgian houses date all the way back the 1700s!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING - so thankful this year for @mattcraig15, my family, Matt’s family, my team at Mr. Trophy, this gorgeous fall we had and what’s to come!🍁🏠

Of course I’m also thankful for New England and Just like the last fallen autumn leaf or the snowflakes in our New England future, no two homes are identical. ❄️☃️But, there are a few characteristics unique to a colonial-style home. Colonial homes are traditionally either two or three stories tall – never one story. The floor plan of a colonial home usually features the kitchen and living spaces downstairs with all bedrooms upstairs. One central fireplace or a fireplace on either end of the home keeps everyone toasty comes winter! 🪵🔥 A key feature of colonial homes is symmetry. The front door is always centered and there are an equal number of windows on either side of the door. The windows are traditionally multi-paned with shutters in contrasting colors.
