How To Make The Most Out Of Your Entryway Space

April 30th, 2021

I always feel inspired to get things clean and tidy when spring comes around. This time of year often reminds me of fresh linens, fluffy throw pillows, sweet sunshine, and organized space. So I was ecstatic when I was able to team up with The Home Depot team again to share how to make the most of your entryway – just in time for spring cleaning!

Overall the entryway is a space often overlooked and not optimized. It’s probably one of the spaces with the highest foot traffic in your home and if you’re a New Englander that can mean anything from flip flops and jean jackets to snowy shoes and winter coats. So today I want to touch on how to make the most of your entryway space no matter how big or how small.

When Matt and I purchased our New England fixer-upper, in 2019, this space was originally a screened-in porch. Early on in our renovation phase, we decided to make this screened-in porch a part of our year-round living space by adding a laundry/bathroom and created a small entryway space. Since then we haven’t done much in this area. In fact, all we added was a little tray to place our shoes and winter gear on, as seen above. So we were thrilled when the opportunity arose to revisit this space and see how we could optimize and decorate this tiny corner of our home.

Thanks to the Home Decorators Collection wall tree, an exclusive private brand from, I turned our side entryway into an open and organized mudroom. All online store purchases offer free delivery on orders over $45 which was super convenient for Matt and I, since neither of us drive big cars. With the wall tree delivered to our front door, it took Matt and me just a few hours to assemble it and by the end of the day, the whole space had come together. We were so happy with the result, and so grateful for the extra storage space especially since New England cape homes are known for limited closet space.

All and all the wall tree was an affordable and an easy way to add function and flair to our home. In fact, had a variety of exclusive wall tree furniture pieces in a variety of sizes, styles, and colors! We decided to go with this specific one because of the rustic drawer style, which we felt fit in perfectly with our colonial shaker cabinets in the kitchen next door. We also loved that the hooks on the wall tree allow us to hang light spring jackets, umbrellas, reusable bags, and my purse. While the wicker baskets keep mine and Matt’s flip flops, hats, and mail out of sight. All and all the offers a great selection of home decor for any room including furniture, throw pillows, decorative lanterns & vases, and wall decor – like our 11 in. x 14 in. Gold Picture Frame.
